Educational and Vocational Counselor for R Place

With more than three decades of professional experience and a lifelong passion for helping others succeed, Valerie Seaton serves as the Education and Vocational Counselor for R Place Recovery. Valerie began working at the age of 15 and developed a strong work ethic and heart for service early in life. She attended Bates Technical College from January 1990 through October 1991, earning her court reporting license in 1992. Immediately after graduation, she was hired by Moburg Reporting, Seattle’s first established court reporting firm, founded in 1928. Valerie dedicated her career to the company and became its owner in 2008. Today, Moburg Reporting continues to thrive in Washington while Valerie also operates Seaton Court Reporting in Arkansas.

Since relocating to Arkansas in 2022, Valerie’s business has grown substantially, while her passion for helping women in recovery has become a central focus of her life and ministry. After moving to Arkansas, she volunteered with a women’s recovery program and discovered a deep calling to help women rebuild their lives through education, employment, and encouragement. She has personally hired and trained five women in recovery who are now thriving in successful careers. Valerie is passionate about seeing the potential in every woman and empowering them with hope, purpose, and the opportunity for a brighter future.

Valerie and her husband, Chuck Seaton, faithfully served for many years as children’s ministers in Tacoma, Washington. Their ministry focused heavily on inner-city and underserved communities, providing bus transportation and outreach to children and families who otherwise may not have had access to church and community support. Many of those children are now adults, and Valerie and Chuck continue to maintain close, family-like relationships with them to this day. Those years of ministry helped shape Valerie’s heart for service, mentorship, and creating lasting connections that impact generations.

In addition to her work in recovery, Valerie volunteered for three years with the Searcy County Humane Society before stepping away to devote her full attention to supporting women in recovery. As a Legacy Partner with R Place, Valerie is excited to continue helping women pursue their career goals by offering mentorship, schooling opportunities, vocational training, and meaningful employment pathways.
